Håkan Hardenberger, one of the world's leading trumpeters, holds an open masterclass for DJM students – and all interested are welcome to attend!
For several decades, Hardenberger has been central to the development of the trumpet's repertoire and artistic possibilities. He has performed with leading orchestras worldwide, including the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, Concertgebouw Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, and Boston Symphony Orchestra.
A distinctive feature of Hardenberger's career is his extensive work with contemporary music. In close collaboration with significant composers of our time, he has made substantial contributions to the development of modern trumpet repertoire. His efforts have made works by György Ligeti, Harrison Birtwistle, Hans Werner Henze, Toru Takemitsu, Jörg Widmann, and HK Gruber central parts of the repertoire.
For DJM trumpet students, the masterclass offers a unique opportunity to work with a musician who has not only helped define international trumpet performance at the highest level but has also significantly influenced the development of the instrument's repertoire and artistic expression. Meeting one of the world's finest in one's field is always inspiring for a young musician.
The masterclass has been arranged through collaboration with Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, where several of the orchestra's international guests give masterclasses for conservatory students during their visits to Aarhus. Hardenberger is this week serving as both conductor and soloist with Aarhus Symphony Orchestra.
