Over the past two decades, ADD/ADHD diagnosis among adults has increased markedly. Many people now experience that their daily struggles can be explained through this diagnosis. Jens Brejnrod has spent 15 years guiding and teaching adults with ADD/ADHD diagnosis and recognized both unique and shared patterns in their experiences. A recurring theme among the diagnosed is the feeling of being different — but what does it really mean? How is it experienced internally, and how is it perceived from the outside? What can be improved, and what must be accepted as part of life?

About the speakers
Jens Brejnrod is trained as a music pedagogue and former lecturer at teacher training. He has 20 years of experience as an adult special education teacher in Aarhus Municipality and has since 2008 developed and taught courses targeting adults with ADHD as well as professionals and relatives. In 2018, he published together with Helle Holmen the work Captain of My Own Life — a freely available collaboration tool for adults with ADHD.
Helle Holmen is trained as a teacher with a diploma specialization in psychology. She has been employed as an adult special education teacher in Aarhus Municipality since 2009, where she together with Jens Brejnrod has developed and taught courses for adults with ADHD, professionals and relatives. Since August 2022, she serves as school principal at the internal school of the socio-psychiatric treatment institution Holmstrupgård.
