Art Bubble is a comic book festival that invites you to celebrate the diversity and artistic power of comics throughout an entire weekend. From October 3rd to 4th, the festival takes place at Dokk1 from 10 am to 4 pm both days, with free admission for all.
Throughout the weekend, you will meet some of Denmark's and Europe's most creative comic artists. You can enjoy live drawing, listen to interviews, participate in creative workshops, and try your hand at drawing under guidance. Here you have the opportunity to speak directly with creators and gain insight into what makes comics so captivating.
Featured participants:
- Peter Madsen reads aloud from Troldeliv and leads a workshop on the Valhalla comic series
- Rasmus Klump celebrates his 75th birthday with a reading from the original story, and Thierry Capezzone, who has illustrated the character for over 20 years, hosts a large draw-along event on the drawing stage by Rampen
- Paola Antista from Italy brings the adventures of Magiline to Dokk1
- Tony Sandoval presents his atmospheric watercolor drawings and stories for both children and adults
- Giovanni Rigano from Italy uses comics to explore important social themes such as refugee crises, climate crisis, and conflict
- Jean-Pierre Talbot, the Belgian actor who portrayed Tintin in the first live-action films, is a guest at the festival
Comics contain far more than speech bubbles and superheroes – they are literature, artistic expression, humor, social narratives, and fantastic worlds. The Art Bubble weekend showcases the full spectrum of this comprehensive medium.
The festival is organized by Art Bubble in collaboration with Aarhus Libraries, which serves as partner and host at Dokk1. Admission is completely free.
