Join artist Lasse Krog Møller backstage at Kunsthal Aarhus for an exclusive evening around the event Behind Culture. Møller, who works as an archive artist, shares fascinating stories from the art hall's pre-history – from the earliest avant-garde exhibitions in the 1920s to more unusual projects such as exhibitions featuring cats and aquarium fish in the 1930s.
Learn about ambitious yet unrealised plans: among them an extension built within the park's trees and a spectacular balloon bridge between ARoS and the art hall. Gain insight into special moments, such as when Queen Margrethe herself exhibited at the venue, the period when the entire building was painted bright red, and the chapter during World War II when the site served as a uniform warehouse for the German occupation forces.
In autumn 2026, Møller will conduct a comprehensive investigation of the art hall's archives and history. The result will be an extensive artwork that will spread across meeting rooms, corridors, restrooms and stairs at Kunsthal Aarhus, with an official premiere in early 2027. On this evening, you get a preview of the narratives and discoveries on which the artwork is based – all presented with humour, creative distortion and original insight by Lasse Krog Møller himself.
