Solo concert with Danish electric guitarist Mikkel Ploug, blending modern jazz with J.S. Bach's classical works on guitar. Ploug is an internationally recognized jazz musician with 20 albums on his CV and became widely known in Denmark during the corona lockdown when he played his guitar arrangements from his balcony for a global audience on Facebook. His solo album Balcony Lullabies was named "Best Jazz Album Of 2020" by Morningstar in the UK and Muesenblaetter in Germany, recommended in Rolling Stone Magazine, and topped Denmark's vinyl sales charts.
Ploug has developed a special expertise in interpreting J.S. Bach's music on electric guitar – an unusual and refreshing approach that showcases his technical mastery and musical curiosity. He has performed in over 25 countries and collaborated with the Royal Danish Ballet and DR Big Band. As Politiken writes, his expressive guitar work is searching and ethereal, with melodies coming "pure and fresh from the speakers".
