An author event featuring Benjamin Koppel discussing his new novel The Sound of Hope alongside literary scholar and priest Michael Bach Henriksen.
The Sound of Hope is the third part of Koppel's award-winning narrative about the Koppelman family. The novel follows Bruche from a small, impoverished Jewish shtetl in Poland at the end of the 19th century, where she grows up amid vegetable trading, family care, and the wilderness of nature. When Russian persecution makes life impossible, she fled to the Jewish community around Adelgade in Copenhagen. The year is 1987, and Bruche is to celebrate her 100th birthday – though technically only 98 years after life has taught her not to postpone joy. The hope of a visit from her daughter Hannah mingles with dread, because Bruche once did something unforgivable, something that may be too late to make right.
The Sound of Hope follows the bestselling novels Anna's Song (2022) and The Butterfly's Voice (2024).
