Big Martin & The Rope A Dope Band presents an authentic Texas blues experience, where musicians prioritize the genre's classic foundations. With sharp brass sections, a breathing Hammond organ, and a rhythm section that functions as one unit, a sound emerges that is both powerful and warm without unnecessary effects.
The band members have built experience from collaborations with acclaimed blues musicians globally - including James Harman, Billy Branch, and Mark Hummel. This background is clearly reflected in their music. The debut album 'Suckerpunch' from spring 2024 documents the band's original compositions in an approach that honors the classic blues aesthetic.
The concert takes place in the intimate setting of Kulturhuset Viby C, where the band's interplay comes fully into its own. You'll have the opportunity to experience the music up close and enjoy craftsmanship that leaves its mark long after the performance ends.
Featuring: Martin Skaastrup (vocals & guitar), Mathias Rindom (drums), Jacob Kortbæk (bass), Josef Baumgartner (Hammond organ/keys), Morten Elbæk (saxophone), Jesper Blæsbjerg (trumpet).
