Meet Norwegian author Nikolai Torgersen at BookTalks on 9 November for a discussion of his debut novel Gader jeg har levet. Set in Oslo during the 2000s, the novel tells the stark yet beautiful story of growing up in poverty and homelessness. After his childhood home was put up for forced sale, Nikolai Torgersen found himself on the streets, and his novel explores this experience of adversity in the world's wealthiest country.
The event is presented as a conversation between Nikolai Torgersen and author Hans Peter Madsen. Following the talk, there will be an opportunity to purchase the book and have it signed by the author, and everyone is welcome to stay for a communal meal afterwards.
