Join a guided tour through University Town, Aarhus University's exciting new campus district. On an area that once housed a municipal hospital with distinctive red brick buildings, a vibrant new urban quarter has been created where the university, businesses, and everyday life meet and inspire each other.
The tour explores how architecture and urban design create opportunities for research, business collaboration, housing, cafés, and experiences for students and city residents. You'll gain insight into the iconic red brick buildings, which now—with respect for their hospital heritage—have been renovated and adapted to a modern university environment.
Along the way, you'll encounter works by architects Thomas Arboe, C.F. Møller, Kay Fisker, and AART Arkitekterne. You'll walk down the promenade—once a hospital street—past the Byauditoriet with its new artworks and welcoming public spaces, and visit Kitchen, the university's innovation and entrepreneurship hub, housed in the former laundry and boiler house. You'll also explore the underground passages connecting the different campus areas and learn about future plans for the site.
Meeting point: In front of Byauditoriet (building 1790), Universitetsbyen 41, 8000 Aarhus C. Price: 135 kr.
