When these activities ceased, the area remained largely dormant for years. But since then, explosive development has taken hold.
Today you'll find film production (Filmbyen), media companies (Jyllands-Posten) and Danske Bank's new headquarters alongside a vibrant cultural scene with music, art and social initiatives. New visions become reality: office buildings, hotels and design education facilities are emerging, and the ambitious timber building TRÆ (78 metres tall) stands as a symbol of sustainable architecture. Kuilbroen – the old crane track – becomes a pedestrian and cycle path, and venues such as Train are relocating to the area.
