Bereaved after Suicide, Aarhus Local Circle, invites you to a café evening featuring journalist, television and radio host Mikkel Frey Damgaard sharing his personal story.
Mikkel Frey Damgaard lost his father to suicide when he was eight years old. This event profoundly shaped his childhood and adult life, and for many years he carried the fear of facing the same fate. In 2016 he began investigating his father's death, which resulted in the radio series "Selvmordstanker" (Suicide Thoughts) on P1. This work later led to the book "Sørgekåben" (The Mourning Cape), where he shed light on his family's history, secrets and unprocessed trauma. He is also the author of "Fiskejournalen" (The Fishing Journal), a book about nature, longing and the search for inner peace – as well as the realization that one is not doomed to repeat one's parents' history.
