The Greenlandic Polar Explorer is a drama about the life of Juulunnguaq-Jørgen Brønlund and his final journey in Northeast Greenland. The performance follows his path through life as a dog sled driver, son, catechist and sociologist, and portrays his role in the Danmark Expedition 1906-08, which mapped Greenland in the struggle over ownership of Northeast Greenland. With drum dance, song and laughter, he is drawn back through memories of the expeditions, the people and the decisive events that shaped Greenlandic history.
Teater freezeProductions and Naleraq Lights present a Danish premiere about one of Greenland's great personalities. The performance is in Danish and features Klaus Geisler and Kura Fleischer. Direction is by Hanne Trap Friis, and the scenography is created by Naja Rosing-Asvid. Venue: Teatret Svalegangen. Admission: 255 kr + possible fee.
