An exploration of Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard's multifaceted literary work – where philosophy, theology and literature converge. Ph.D. Stine Zink Kaasgaard examines how Kierkegaard employs literary forms, diverse voices and stylistic approaches as central tools for expressing existential philosophical questions. Rather than mere decoration, the choice of language and literary form becomes essential to ensure that life's complexity is not left unspoken or oversimplified.
This event is part of a larger lecture series "The Literary Philosophy," where four existentialist thinkers – Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, Camus and Simone Weil – are presented through their distinctive literary approach to philosophy. The lecture is followed by open discussion. No prior knowledge of Kierkegaard is required; his questions speak to universal human concerns.
