What is a trauma, and how does it affect us? In this conversation, core questions of traumatology are explored with psychology professor Karen-Inge Karstoft and actor Thure Lindhardt.
The concept of trauma has moved from the medical and psychological realm into everyday life, where it is used to explain everything from personal catastrophes to collective reactions. But what actually lies behind the word? How do traumatic reactions manifest? And does a deeply shaking experience inevitably mark us for life?
Karen-Inge Karstoft presents insights from current research and explains how trauma affects us, why some people develop lasting symptoms, and importantly, why we are often more resilient than we believe. Thure Lindhardt contributes an artistic perspective and personal insight through his work with the character Jeppe – a man diagnosed with PTSD – in Christian Lollick's new interpretation of Jeppe on the Mountain at Aarhus Theatre.
