Easy Living is a musical tribute to the classic collaboration between saxophonist Paul Desmond and guitarist Jim Hall, two key figures in cool jazz. Four of Aarhus' finest jazz musicians have come together to interpret and celebrate some of the pieces from their six iconic albums, recorded between 1959 and 1965.
Paul Desmond, best known from Dave Brubeck's Quartet (1951-1967) where he played on the classic "Take Five", sought according to his own words to sound "like a dry martini" – characterized by elegance and finesse. Since he was not permitted to record with pianists other than Brubeck, he created his solo albums together with Jim Hall, and their meeting defined a delicate, melodic and intimate musical expression that continues to inspire musicians today.
With Easy Living, the musicians are united in their shared passion for the cool jazz world of swinging, well-composed sound. Performers:
