Grøn Bio invites to a special evening with East of Paradise and the Garden Society of Aarhus, exploring the natural progression of the year in the kitchen garden. Ecologists Jens Juhl and Sølva Falgren – authors of several guidebooks on organic gardening – share their practical experience cultivating kitchen gardens year-round and achieving high self-sufficiency with vegetables. The lecture covers growing vegetables, fruit and berries, as well as methods for gentle soil care, composting and organic fertilizers.
The event also features the documentary Agatha's Almanac, a sensory and delicate portrait of 90-year-old Agatha Bock, who lives alone on her ancestral farm in Canada. Despite her advanced age and health challenges, she continues to work the soil by hand and tends ancient seed varieties passed down through family generations. Without a car, mobile phone, running water or modern conveniences, Agatha lives in harmony with nature's annual cycle and daily rituals. Her life stands as a quiet counterpoint to the pace of modern society and illustrates a way of life gradually disappearing. The film had its world premiere at CPH:DOX in March 2025 and has been praised for giving voice to an often neglected rural culture and documenting values and knowledge at risk of being lost.
Admission: 185 kr (Garden Society members: 131 kr)
