Meet sinologist and author Sidse Laugesen for an evening of literary exploration. She will read from both her own works and translated texts, sharing her fascinating work as a translator between Danish and Chinese as well as her authorship in both languages.
Sidse Laugesen is renowned for her dedicated efforts in Chinese literature – she has brought works from a wide range of Chinese avant-garde poets and major novelists to Danish audiences. Under her Chinese alter ego, Lao Zhuzhen, she has become a recognized underground poet in China, where she has won several prizes for her poetry. In 2025, she received the Danish Translators Association's honorary prize for her valuable work.
From her recent publications, you will encounter the poetry collection Min hardcore høne (2024) – a collection driven by bodies, snapshots, and nature observations – as well as the translated novel Kokon, which is described as both moving and hypnotic.
