Experience Aarhus Central Station as never before on this guided tour arranged by AarhusGuiderne in collaboration with DSB employees. The tour takes you through the architectural treasures of the station building — from its Greek-inspired temple architecture and characteristic PH chandeliers to the distinctive wooden ceiling in the main hall, designed after an old railway carriage ceiling.
Explore hidden areas normally closed to the public, including a balcony offering views over the station hall. You'll discover the building's history since its completion in 1929, designed by architect K.T. Seest, and learn about the architectural harmony of Banegårdspladsen with the yellow buildings along Ryesgade and Park Allé, designed by architect Axel Høegh-Hansen.
Discover how the railway arrived in Aarhus in 1862 and transformed the city into Denmark's second-largest industrial hub. Visit the former DSB Central Workshop area, which at its peak in the late 1940s employed around 1,850 people, and learn about the various occupational groups that worked and continue to work for DSB. The tour also covers upcoming renovations designed to accommodate new electric trains while preserving the station's protected main hall.
