An inspiring reading event where poets and word-players from Tekst til tiden and Unge danske digtere present works about the power of writing, words and language. The programme consists of texts created after creative prompts from Huda Chaaban, co-leader at Frontløberne, and PC Asmussen, author and former circus director at Gøglerskolen.
Huda's contribution explores the idea of the pen as a tool of resistance, inspired by Palestinian author and activist Ghassan Kanafani's novel Men in the Sun. PC Asmussen shares his experiences from writing groups where writing has been a liberating force for people in very different life situations – the homeless, the incarcerated, people with diagnoses, climate anxiety and many others.
Special guests include Maher Mahmoud, composer and oudist, who will perform a few pieces on the Arabic stringed instrument, and Syrian poet Mahasen Aljundi, who will read from her Danish debut collection Mined Walls.
The event is framed by literary art: texts selected by Silas Stochholm (co-leader of Unge Danske Digtere) will be exhibited at the library after the event.
