Katarina Barruk is one of Sápmi’s most acclaimed live artists, blending pop music, traditional joik, and improvisation into a sound that is both powerful and deeply grounded. Singing in her mother tongue, Ume Sámi, she creates a concert experience marked by both vulnerability and strength through her clear voice and commanding stage presence.
Over the past decade, she has toured across Europe and became the first Sámi artist to perform at the Royal Albert Hall as part of BBC Proms. She has also appeared at festivals such as Roskilde Festival, Iceland Airwaves, and Paléo Festival, and has performed with leading Scandinavian orchestras including Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, and Det Norske Kammerorkester. Her album »Ruhttuo« from 2022 was created with producers Arnljot Nordvik and Christo Stangness, and in 2025 she released the EP »Guh Lejmeh Sámieh«.
