Classical Days 2026 celebrates the 50th anniversary of Denmark’s first pre-conservatory music programme with a symphonic gala concert focused on community, talent, and musical energy. DUEN - The Danish Youth Ensemble takes part in the festival for the third year in a row and will perform both on its own and together with students and participants from MGK MidtVest, MGK Østjylland, and Musiktalent Aarhus in a large symphony orchestra of up to 50 young musicians. The soloist is bassoonist Bram van Sambeek, and Morten Ryelund conducts.
The programme ranges from Mozart’s Symphony No. 29 and Bizet’s Les Toréadors to Dvořák’s "From the New World," bringing together classical masterpieces, folk-inspired tones, and rhythmic energy. Classical Days is led artistically by Janne Thomsen, and DUEN has been part of the festival since 2012. The concert takes place at Musikhuset Aarhus, and admission is free.
