A dance performance where choreographer Palle Granhøj explores Michael Kvium's figures through live movement. A dancer enters the stage and mimics Kvium's distinctive characters—the androgynous, deformed figures with their peculiar gazes. Step by step, a transformation occurs: the dancer dresses and undresses, the body morphs into the figure's posture, the gaze becomes frozen. But the artwork resists remaining static. The figure breaks free from the canvas and must now exist with real corporeality, weight, and breath.
One by one, multiple Kvium figures spread across the space. They meet, mirror each other, collide. Here tension, friction, and recognition are created rather than harmony. It is a physical investigation of the grotesque, the vulnerable, and the all-too-human. When art that we normally observe from a distance suddenly materializes in living form before us, we are forced to see anew.
