The quest for a longer life is becoming increasingly prominent – both in research, media, among health influencers, and in social media trends. But what does science tell us about what we can do ourselves to achieve a good and long life? How do we keep our brain and body young over the years? Which claims circulate in the debate around aging and longevity, and how do we distinguish facts from popular advice on the internet? Furthermore: where is the line for what is ethical and philosophically defensible in the pursuit of living longer – and do we risk losing sight of what actually makes life worth living?
This debate unfolds both scientific insights and moral questions with aging researcher Morten Scheibye-Knudsen from the University of Copenhagen and philosophy lecturer Morten Dige from Aarhus University. Science communicator and sociologist Anne Sofie Hoffmann Schrøder moderates the discussion. The event is part of the People's University's knowledge festival Hearts & Minds.
