Silently, the Maple Tree Burns is a work of modern drama about the importance of language and the power of words. The performance follows a boy who loses his speech, and through four short chapters it portrays how fear, guilt, and shame take his words away as he grows up. The production combines newly written drama, newly composed organ music, live choir, and live projections.
The performance is created through an artistic collaboration between composer Gorm Askjær and Teatret Gruppe 38, and is staged in Aarhus Cathedral as part of Aarhus Symfoniske Orgelfestival. Performers: Bodil Alling, Aarhus Domkirkes Kantori, and Kristian Krogsøe. Technicians: Søren Søndberg, Søren la Cour, and Jakob Kirkegaard. Age group: From 15 years. Duration: 60 min without intermission. Admission: Løssalg: 150 kr.
