Literature possesses a unique ability to shift perspectives, transcend the boundaries of the possible, and enrich our world. As we read, we experience emotion and empathy through words. Writing, meanwhile, offers us the opportunity to create our own worlds without limitations and to process difficult moments through language.
Research in psychology demonstrates that literary engagement has multiple beneficial effects: it can promote relaxation, strengthen our analytical capacity, deepen self-understanding and reflection, and expand our ability to understand other people.
In this workshop, we explore the psychological dimensions of reading and writing together with Karen Margrethe Schifter Kirketerp, an authorized clinical psychologist and expert in health psychology. The session combines introductory presentations with practical exercises and is aimed at everyone with an interest in words, books, and writing.
