Mejlbygruppen invites you to the opening of a textile art exhibition inspired by Svend Åge Madsen's novel Propriety and Impropriety in the Meantime. The exhibition consists of 18 embroidered works, where selected scenes from the novel have been interpreted through craftsmanship and artistic creativity.
Mejlbygruppen is a local women's community rooted in Risskov Church's parish house, established over 40 years ago. The 17 women in the group, aged 50 to 97, meet regularly to create works through embroidery and textile art. The project demonstrates how literature gains new life through textile, and how artistic creativity can flourish actively and meaningfully throughout life.
At the opening, you can meet Mejlbygruppen, learn about the works and the process behind them, and gain insight into the connection between Madsen's novel and the textile craft. The exhibition will subsequently be on display at Risskov Library during library hours.
