Consciousness is the foundation of our experience of the world, our thoughts, feelings, and self-awareness. Despite its central importance to human life, it remains one of science and philosophy's greatest unsolved mysteries. What exactly is consciousness? How does it arise? And how can biological tissue create a sense of identity?
This afternoon, psychologist and neuroscience lecturer Kristian Sandberg from Aarhus University and philosophy Ph.D. Morten Grønborg explore these fundamental questions from their respective disciplines. They present insights from modern brain research and philosophical thinking about mind, self, and reality. A in-depth conversation about human subjectivity, the tension between the scientifically measurable and the personally experienced, and why consciousness remains a mystery even in an age where we can map the brain's structure with unprecedented precision.
