OCD is far more than the popular image of order and fixed routines. For people with OCD, obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviours can dominate everyday life and create significant anxiety and exhaustion. But what actually lies behind this condition, and how do we understand it correctly?

In this lecture, you will gain new insights into one of the most misunderstood mental health conditions. Michelle Sophia Lange Bachmann, clinical psychologist and PhD candidate at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Aarhus University Hospital, will explore the causes of OCD and the treatments available today. Particular focus is placed on the many different expressions of OCD – from control rituals and cleaning to intrusive thoughts – and how we can dispel some of the myths surrounding the condition.

The event is part of the Folk University's knowledge festival Hearts & Minds.
