The Magic Flute follows Prince Tamino, who is tasked with rescuing Pamina, the daughter of the Queen of the Night. Together with the bird catcher Papageno, he sets out on a perilous journey where the lines between good and evil gradually become less clear. After trials through fire and water, Tamino and Pamina attain wisdom, love, and insight.
In this production, director Barbora Horáková combines fairy tale, modern theatre, and video projections. The staging emphasizes imaginative images, characters, and symbolism rather than traditional Egyptian set aesthetics, unfolding in a dark, dreamlike universe. The cast includes Georg Zeppenfeld (Sarastro), Julian Prégardien (Tamino), Serena Sáenz (Queen of the Night), Slávka Zámecníková (Pamina), Ludwig Mittelhammer (Papageno) and Ilia Staple (Papagena).
