This concert highlights the orchestra's brass and percussion sections. While the strings and woodwinds take a break, audiences are invited to explore the distinctive sounds these instrument groups deliver.
The event is part of the RAMA CLASSIC festival, a mini-festival at the Royal Danish Academy's Aarhus Conservatory, which showcases the different instrument sections within a classical symphony orchestra. Over three concerts on Friday and Saturday, each programme features a single section – strings, woodwinds, and brass with percussion – while a fourth concert on Saturday brings all groups together in one performance.
The musicians are conservatory students performing under the direction of an instructor. An experienced orchestra teacher introduces each concert and shares expertise on the repertoire. Working in smaller ensembles helps the musicians develop their listening skills and ability to blend sounds seamlessly in ensemble playing.
The concert is free and requires no booking – simply arrive in good time. Venue: Musikhuset Aarhus.
