Shibori is a traditional Japanese dyeing technique that transforms plain fabric into patterned cloth through binding, twisting and wrapping. The fabric is wrapped around various objects such as plastic tubes, wooden blocks, sticks and spheres – all available at the studio. After dyeing, the fabric is unwrapped to reveal beautiful and surprising patterns.
You will work with linen and cotton, dyed in blue. You can bring your own fabric or purchase it at the studio. The course is led by Inge Marie Pallesen and arranged in collaboration between Godsbanens Åbne Værksteder and Skolen for Kunst og Design.
