Join the Twilight Hour during Nordic Literature Week – an evening dedicated to public reading and shared reflection on this year's selected novel.
This year the program features excerpts from the acclaimed Swedish novel They Will Drown in Their Mothers' Tears by Johannes Anyuru (Swedish original 2017, Danish translation 2018 by Birgitte Steffen Nielsen). The novel explores a thought-provoking vision of the future, addressing themes of democracy, identity and community. The story revolves around a violent incident at a lecture by a controversial cartoonist, following a young woman who is later admitted to a psychiatric institution where she shares her perspective on a fractured Sweden. The work examines central societal questions about mistrust, exclusion, hope, freedom and the power of language.
A evocative gathering for all who wish to participate in public reading, dialogue and engagement with one of the Nordic region's most pressing contemporary novels.
