Studenterjazz | Nikolaj Bangsgaard US Trio

Studenterjazz presents Nikolaj Bangsgaard US Trio in an intimate and acoustic concert on October 28 at Studenterhus Aarhus in their study café. Here you have the chance to experience the musicians up close in a special intimate atmosphere.

Nikolaj Bangsgaard is one of Denmark's most interesting and emerging drummers on the new jazz scene. After three years in New York, he returned to Copenhagen in summer 2025 and has since established himself as a musician with remarkable maturity and technical command. He is a recipient of several prestigious grants, including winning the Bucharest International Jazz Competition.

The trio now debuts with the album "Crosshatch", where the lineup – Nikolaj Bangsgaard on drums, David Truilo on tenor saxophone, and Jasper Grigsby-Schulte on double bass – explores an open, deeply felt, and meditative musical universe. Most compositions were created during Nikolaj's time in New York. With full focus on the space between the notes, the trio offers an introspective jazz universe where pauses and silence are just as central as what is being played.
