Baseball5 is a new and exciting sport where men and women train and compete together equally. The sport combines elements you might recognize from rounders, handball, or kickball – what matters most is being quick at running, catching, and thinking fast.
Denmark faces a unique opportunity: new athletes are now being recruited for U18 and senior national teams heading to the European Championships in 2027 and 2028 respectively. Because the sport is still relatively new with a limited player base, it is actually possible to reach the national team even without prior experience. Last year, 5 new players did it – they had trained for only 3 months before the championships, and managed to compete at the level of established nations.
The national team and Aarhus club have impressive results: 7th place at the 2025 European Championships, victory over 2023 EM medallist Holland, silver at an international tournament in Paris, and 4 Danish championships. Much of this success comes from converted players from other sports – it shows what is possible.
If you are athletic and interested, give it a try. The level is mixed, so there is room for complete beginners – come to free training and see if it is for you. Training takes place every Thursday under the guidance of the national coach, so you will develop quickly as a potential Baseball5 player.
