Fibres in Form is an exhibition by Vævekonsortiet, in which 12 weavers explore how garments can be created from one square piece of fabric with (almost) no use of scissors and only minimal sewing. The focus is on shaping the clothing directly on the loom, allowing material, technique, and creative choices to determine the final expression.
Textile designer Mia Lehtonen has been an inspiration for the project. Vævekonsortiet was formed in 2016 and celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The association consists of weavers who have completed the professional modules in shaft-loom weaving at Laugets Vævekurser. The exhibition is shown at Dokk1/Aarhus Hovedbibliotek, and free tickets are available.
