Carl Th. Dreyer's classic 1932 silent film Vampyr meets Joby Talbot's intense and atmospheric musical score from 2018, as Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen performs the work live to the film.
Dreyer's dreamlike film is an unsettling journey through fog, silence, and shadow—a work without clear answers that slowly seeps under the skin with its ghostly visual language. When Talbot's music is added, the experience deepens and becomes more sensory: trembling strings, asymmetrical rhythms, and transparent soundscapes create new energy, where the visual and musical merge in a floating space between reality and nightmare.
Conductor Aaron Holloway-Nahum, known for his precision and keen ear for sound, leads Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen, one of Europe's leading contemporary music ensembles. Every layer of Talbot's rich orchestration comes to the fore, crafted to open new dimensions in the iconic film.
This is no traditional horror film concert, but an artistic immersion into the uncanny—a rare opportunity to experience Vampyr as a living, breathing artwork across mediums.
