Discover Aarhus' fascinating Viking heritage on a guided tour through the city's historic heart. Aarhus was an important trading town and strategic hub during Gorm the Old's time, surrounded by city walls and designed for both trade and defense. The walk takes you through stories of the first inhabitants of Aarhus, the fortifications, burial mounds, and the arrival of Christianity in the city.
You will see traces of the Viking Age that are still visible in the streetscape today, and you will visit the Viking Museum as part of the tour. A local guide shares knowledge in an engaging and accessible way – many visitors say afterward that they see the city completely anew when walking through it.
Meeting point is at the steps in front of Dokk1. The tour lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes and covers approximately 2.5 km.
