Earlier this late summer, a heavy Jutlandic stallion called Høvdingen was modelled in clay at life size, with the help of hundreds of children's and adults' hands in Rå Hal at Godsbanen. The project was led by visual artist Mette Skriver, and the sculpture was part of the exhibition Det Levende Ler - Skab med Anne Marie Carl-Nielsen. The horse now stands at the sculpture workshop space Huggeormen, where it frames a very special event.
A large fire is lit inside the sculpture. As the clay dries and heats up, small cracks gradually form in the surface, through which a glowing red light shines from within. When sawdust is added to the fire, the experience turns into a fascinating sight, with spirals of sparks drifting up into the winter darkness.
The event is inspired by 2026 being the Year of the Fire Horse in Chinese astrology. The Fire Horse stands for strength, energy and change, and this special year occurs only once every 60 years. The sculpture thus serves both as an artwork and a living symbol of this powerful energy.
Come and experience this poetic, spectacular and sensory event at Huggeormen, the artist-driven outdoor sculpture workshop space between Godsbanen and Ringgadebroen.
Everyone is welcome, and it is free of charge.
