Meet author Caspar Eric for a powerful lecture about navigating a world often not designed with disabled people in mind. Through his new poetry collection Crip from 2025, he explores how disability impacts everyday life in contemporary Denmark.
Caspar Eric is a cand.mag. in Literature Studies from the University of Copenhagen and since his debut in 2014 has built an oeuvre that amplifies voices from the welfare state's shadows. With Crip, this part of his work reaches its peak – a blend of precise facts and wrathful political poetry where he raises critical questions: Why do we talk more easily about assisted dying than life support when it comes to disabled people? His earlier works such as Nike (2015), Avatar (2017), Everything You Own (2018), I Will Not Go Back (2020), We Can Do Much (2021) and New Balances (2023) have established him as an important voice in discussions about ableism and diversity. Caspar Eric himself lives with cerebral palsy, an experience he reflects upon in his art.
