The Existential Philosophy Academy and Dokk1 present the first lecture in a new series on "The Literary Philosophy". The series explores how philosophy can be written and thought in many different ways – as logical argumentation, dialogue, fragment, diary, novel, manifesto, poem, letter and fable. Each lecture event features four existential philosophers: Friedrich Nietzsche, Søren Kierkegaard, Albert Camus and Simone Weil.
This first event focuses on Nietzsche and is titled "Poetry's Time and Body". The lecturer, ph.d. Jon Auring Grimm, will present Nietzsche's distinction between the Apollinian artistic drive (associated with dreams, images and epic poetry) and the Dionysian artistic drive (linked to intoxication, music and lyric poetry). He will unfold how Nietzsche understands language and poetry's relationship to time, body and materiality, starting from his early works – but also tracing these ideas into his later authorship. Jon Auring Grimm, mag.art. and ph.d. in philosophy, has among other things authored the book FLUX: a movement towards a Heraclitean Nietzscheanism and a ph.d. thesis on Nietzsche's Dionysian successor Georges Bataille.
