Ensemble MidtVest opens Aarhus Musikforening’s concert season with a programme bringing together two major works from the core classical chamber music repertoire: Mozart and Schubert. The audience can experience Mozart’s quintet for piano and winds and Schubert’s large-scale octet, performed by some of the country’s leading specialists. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was one of the most important composers of the Classical era, and Franz Schubert is especially known for his rich melodic style and central place in early Romantic music.
The programme features Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Quintet for piano and winds in E-flat major, KV 452, arranged for string quintet and wind quartet by Jean Françaix, and Franz Schubert: Octet for string quintet, clarinet, horn and bassoon in F major, D. 803. The concert is part of Aarhus Musikforening’s 2026/27 concert season, which marks the 200th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s death.
