Art historian Karen Friis explores humanity's relationship with nature through contemporary art. Drawing on regenerative thinking, she discusses how climate crisis and biodiversity loss force us to reconsider our connection to the nature we depend on but often feel separated from.
The lecture presents works by contemporary artists who engage with nature as an active participant. Karen Friis raises essential questions: Can art help us better understand the nature we seek to protect? How do aesthetic experiences create the connection that facts and statistics often cannot? Through artwork analysis and reflection, the audience is invited to rediscover a present and connected relationship with the world around us.
Karen Friis is director of KØN – Museum of Gender Cultural History, former folk high school principal, and art historian.
The event takes place at 19:30 in the Lecture Hall at Testrup Folk High School.
