Join author Amalie Langballe for an engaging conversation about her acclaimed work New Virtues — a candid, humorous, and deeply personal exploration of life's crises in light of Christianity's classical narratives.
The book examines what one does when life falls apart: when finances collapse, family members fall ill, and home is a construction site. Rather than following contemporary self-help dogma, Langballe turns to the Bible and explores seven alternative virtues — idleness, softness, duty, ugliness, simplicity, shame, and extravagance — as a path to accepting that life need not be perfect.
Amalie Langballe is a journalist and author known from Weekendavisen. She made her debut with the novel The Disappearing Act, which won the Bogforum Debut Prize, and has since published the interview collection An Attempt at Hope: What Priests Know About Chaos. Her literary voice is characterized by unsentimental honesty, sharp self-irony, and the ability to interweave everyday trivia with profound questions about grief, faith, and love.
The conversation is facilitated by Ph.D. candidate Camilla Weber Farver from Aarhus University. The event is open to everyone.
