Intermediate is the third level in HEI Swimming's swimming school and builds on the foundation that children have established at the beginner level. Through play and progressive instruction, new skills are developed within self-rescue as well as front crawl and backstroke.
Throughout this level, children work towards being able to:
- Swim longer distances on both back and front with controlled breathing underwater
- Dive down to 2 meters depth
- Perform a header dive from the edge or stool
An important focus is to get children to move independently and safely in the water without aids such as belts. This lays the foundation for stronger swimming skills. The instruction follows Denmark's Swimming Association AquaChamp concept with emphasis on the Crawl 1 & 2 and Backstroke 1 & 2 badges.
The prerequisite for registration is that children have previously completed the beginner level or already master the skills from that level.
