LiteraryTHURSDAY is a series of literature-focused events at Hasle Library, where you can share your passion for books with others who feel the same way. Each evening, the literature facilitator brings a new perspective and literary experience to the table.
The autumn 2026 programme includes:
- 27 August: Short Story Reading Circle — We meet without preparation and listen to a short story read aloud. Afterwards, we explore the story's characters, setting, themes and symbolism together, and discuss how the text affects us as individual readers.
- 24 September: Literary Walk at Vestereng — We start at the library and walk together to Vestereng to enjoy literature in dialogue with a sculpture exhibition on display in September. The literature facilitator brings a selection of texts to read along the way. The walk is 3-4 km at a relaxed pace, with a coffee break halfway.
- 22 October: Favourite Poems and Blackout Poetry — The focus is on poetry. You can bring your own favourite poems and share them, while the literature facilitator also presents selected works. We end with practising blackout poetry, a simple yet elegant technique where words are removed from old book pages to create new graphic poems.
- 19 November: Nobel Prize Then and Now — We explore the Nobel Prize in Literature through the ages and take a closer look at Nobel Prize winners who remain relevant today. We also discuss the year's laureate, announced in October and awarded on 10 December.
Practical information: All events are held at Hasle Library. Booking is not required — simply turn up. All events are free of charge.
