Nadia Mansour, researcher, PhD in multicultural literature and pedagogical head at AIS (Aarhus International School), invites you to an evening about the stories we carry with us – both those spoken and those left unspoken – and how they shape our understanding of identity, exile and belonging.
She reads excerpts from her essay Ikke et ord om Falastin (Not a Word About Falastin), in which she opens up about her family background and her experiences as a Danish-Palestinian. She also shares family stories that are not included in the essay, tells the background to her contribution to the anthology Palæstinenseren (published February 2025), and describes her many trips to Israel/Palestine, where her family is from and still lives.
After the reading there is room for questions and conversation about growing up with Palestinian heritage, about the unspoken in family histories, and about how the past casts shadows over the present. The book is one of ten personal narratives about the legacy of Palestine, and books will be sold with the option of signing.
The talk is arranged by FOF Aarhus in collaboration with Dokk1.
