Aarhus Conservatory's tuba students welcome Swedish virtuoso Karl-Johan Elf, a renowned soloist previously with the DR Symphony Orchestra and currently with Kungliga Filharmonikerna in Stockholm. Over Friday and Saturday, October 2–3, Elf leads intensive masterclasses for the conservatory's musicians, culminating in a concert Saturday evening.
At the concert, Elf performs solo tuba works by von Koch, Raum, Penderecki and Kraft, alongside tuba ensemble pieces by Holborne, Bach, Gabrieli and Corelli. Expect a rich sonic journey through both delicate and powerful sounds of the deep brass instrument.
Beyond his role as a soloist, Elf teaches tuba at Musikhögskolan in Stockholm and performs chamber music with Stockholm Brass Quintet. For the conservatory's students, his visit represents an exceptional opportunity to learn from an established master of the instrument.
